Young Researchers Awards for Excellence for CEH's Amy Kercher

At the British Association for Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (BABCP) conference in July 2008, Amy Kercher, PhD candidate and psychologist with CEH, has been awarded the Young Researchers Award for Excellence (open paper category). Amy has been asked to write a summary of her paper for the BABCP newsletter and offered funding to attend next year's conference.

Official Launch for Centre for Emotional Health

the Hon. John Watkins MP, Deputy Premier, Member for Ryde officially launched the Centre for Emotional Health on Friday 16 November 2007 at an informal cocktail party function at the Macquarie Graduate School of Management.

The Minister congratulated Centre staff and the University on their endeavours to improve the emotional quality of life for adults and children and emphasised his commitment to the importance of continuing research into emotional health. Professor Judyth Sachs, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Provost) and Professor Ron Rapee, Director of CEH hosted the function.

CEH Receives Mental Health Matters Award

The Mental Health Association NSW has awarded the Centre's Cool Kids Program the Mental Health Matters Award for Research for 2007. The award was presented to Professor Ron Rapee, Director, and Dr Caroline Schniering, Member, of CEH. The Cool Kids Program has been running at Macquarie University for the last 12 years as a scientifically tested program for the management of anxiety in young people. The Program involves ongoing research at the Centre and is continually improving treatment outcomes.

2007 National Drug and Alcohol Excellence in Research Award

Dr Andrew Baillie and his collaborators at RPA (Paul Haber RPA/USYD, Maree Teesson UNSW, Kirsten Morley USYD, Claudia Sannibale UNSW/RPA, Stefanie Leung RPA) have won the 2007 National Drug and Alcohol Excellence in Research Award.
